The World Indoor Track & Field League competition show is a team TV show built around individual athlete transformation. Teams can protect athletes, but the elimination itself is blind. Reputation, starting PR and personality do not decide who survives — the transformation race keeps moving underneath the show.
WHY TEAM PROTECTION MATTERS
STRATEGY MEETS THE DATA.
A team may believe an athlete is about to break through even when the board has not moved yet. Protection gives the team a strategic choice: trust the athlete, trust the coaching plan, and risk a spot on someone whose transformation may still be coming.
But protection cannot stop the season from shrinking. Every week, athletes disappear from the field.

The team has been stripped down to the two athletes they believe have closed the gap the most through the transformation fight.

The World Indoor Track & Field League does not reward the team that simply arrived with the best athletes. It rewards the team whose final two athletes collectively close the most gap and get closest to reaching their potential.
